In our quest to improve the planet through green-building practices, it makes sense to practice what we preach. In the name of transparency, we’ve outlined the strategies put in place to make this conference as environmentally friendly as possible.
Venue
By hosting our event in a hotel conference centre, we benefit from the on-site catering services which utilize washable dishes for coffee breaks and meals. As well as washable table linens.
No single-use plastic bottles will be available on-site. We highly encourage all participants to bring their own reusable waterbottle.
Print Materials
Printed handouts will be minimized, with QR codes at the registration and info table to deliver key information on your mobile device. The few printed pieces available, will be printed on recyclable FSC certified paper.
Conference signage features pieces re-used from previous years where possible. New signage will be printed on recyclable corrugated cardboard panels instead of the typical foamcore or coroplast which are single-use items.
Passive House Canada generally avoids handing out branded promotional products to avoid unnecessary waste.
Badge holders and lanyards will be collected for re-use at future conferences after being cleaned and checked for damage.
Exhibitors are encouraged to adhere to these same standards.
