Airport Travel

If you’re flying in, you’ll arrive at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), which is located just 10–15 minutes from the conference venue, theSheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel.

The hotel offers a complimentary airport shuttle that runs 24/7, approximately every 30 minutes. Pickup is from the Departures Level (Level 3) at both the Domestic and International terminals. You can find more details on pickup locations via YVR courtesy shuttle information.

For arrivals between 2 and 4 am, please call 604-273-7878 for pickup.

Getting Around

Once you’re in Vancouver, getting around is very straightforward. The city has a reliable and easy-to-use public transit system, including buses and the SkyTrain.

The closest station to the hotel is Richmond-Brighouse Station, about a 10 minute walk away (you can view directions here). From there, the Canada Line connects you directly to both downtown Vancouver and the airport.

Getting to Downtown Vancouver

Downtown is an easy trip from the hotel. From Lansdowne Station, take the Canada Line toward Waterfront Station and get off at either Vancouver City Centre or Waterfront. Trains run approximately every 10 minutes, and the trip typically takes about 30 minutes. If you want to preview the route in advance, you can do so via this route example. You can also find more general transit info on the YVR public transportation page.

Paying for Transit

For transit, the easiest option is a Compass Card. It works across buses, SkyTrain, and SeaBus and can be purchased and loaded at the airport or any SkyTrain station.

You can also use contactless payment (credit card or mobile wallet), but if you plan to use transit regularly during your stay, a Compass Card is usually the simplest option.

Weather & What to Pack

Late May is a great time to be in Vancouver. Expect mild spring weather, with daytime temperatures typically around 16–19°C (60–68°F) and cooler evenings around 9–11°C (48–52°F) (see averages via The Weather Network).

Vancouver weather can be a bit unpredictable, with a mix of sun, clouds, and a 25–30% chance of rain.

Pack layers, including light sweaters or long sleeves, and a light jacket for cooler evenings. A compact umbrella or rain jacket is recommended, along with comfortable walking shoes and sunglasses for clearer days.
